Kaumātua Outreach
Our regular kawhe (coffee) and kōrero (conversation) is instrumental to the wellbeing of our kaumātua and kaimahi alike. It is a time to build meaningful and purposefully reciprocal relationships which is imperative to our community rangahau.
Kaumātua Involvement in Our Kaupapa
We know numerous research has proven rangatahi are more likely to engage in learning when it is facilitated by their peers, however, we believe this knowledge has been misconstrued by some to beliefs that ONLY rangatahi are able to successfully engage with rangatahi.
Kaumātua involvement across our rangatahi kaupapa is essential to the success and growth of Toi Matarua, we do this in a number of ways including:
- Advisory at governance and operational levels
- Guest speaking and workshop facilitation
- Invitations to attend all rangatahi events, shows and workshops
We would also like to acknowledge and thank Puāwai Cafe in Marewa for their ongoing support of our kaumātua kaupapa.
